"Every member of the team was exceptional"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

(as the patient),

I recently completed DBT and I can honestly say that it has been incredibly beneficial for me.

Every member of the DBT team was exceptional. They were compassionate, understanding, professional and consistently supportive throughout the programme. I always felt that I was being listened to, genuinely cared for and treated with respect, and I really appreciated the commitment and care that the whole team brought to the work.

DBT has given me skills and understanding that I know I will continue to use long after completing the programme. It has helped me understand myself better, manage difficult situations differently and feel more capable of coping when things are challenging.

I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to take part in DBT and to have been supported by such an amazing team. The dedication of the therapists made a real difference to my experience, and I would like them to know how much I appreciate everything they have done.

Thank you to the entire DBT team for the work you do. The programme has made a genuinely positive difference to my life.

Dear DBT Participant KG,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful and heartfelt feedback about your experience of DBT. It means a great deal to the whole team to hear that you felt listened to, understood, respected and genuinely cared for throughout the programme.

We are particularly pleased to hear that you have found the skills and understanding you developed through DBT helpful and that you feel more capable of navigating difficult situations. The real achievement, however, is yours. Completing DBT and continuing to apply what you have learned takes courage, commitment and persistence, and you should be very proud of the progress you have made.

Your kind words about the team are greatly appreciated. Supporting people through this work is a privilege and hearing that the programme has made a genuinely positive difference to your life is incredibly rewarding.

We wish you every success as you continue to use your DBT skills and build on everything you have achieved. Please remember that the progress you have made is yours to carry forward.

With very best wishes,

Dr Niamh O'Connor

DBT Team Lead
